Classes
In order to sign up for a training class at Greensboro Community Television, you must first attend an Orientation and become a Member.
Cable 8's classes are on a first-come first-serve basis. You must attend all sessions listed for your class and pass a hands-on evaluation test in order to be certified on the equipment.
We offer three certification classes that are offered when there is sufficient demand. All classes are offered from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and must be scheduled by appointment. Click on the tabs below for details about each specific class. Special sessions may be scheduled if you have a group from your organization or church who would like to be certified.
Please let us know if you cannot attend a workshop that you have registered for. Class fees are non-refundable, but we can register you for the next available session. If you have registered for a class that has been cancelled, our instructor will notify you of the next available class.
iMovie Basics
Our beginner's editing class. The workshop costs $50.00, and is a one evening course. iMovie, designed by Apple for Macintosh computers, is one of the easiest ways to edit. It has an simple storyboard interface that allows the editor/producer add titles, music and transitions to their program. Even if you have never edited before, soon you will able to put together your program with style!
Introduction to Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Express allows you to layer video, add motion keyframes to video, add text and graphhics, plus many more effects. The timeline editing interface allows you extra flexibility when editing.
This class is designed to give you an introduction to this powerful program, so that you can begin to delve into the world of Final Cut Express. The cost for this course is $150.00.
You must attend all three evenings of this session in order to be certified. The classes are held from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
Introduction to Studio Production
Greensboro Community Television has a three-camera studio with Kino-Flo fluorescent lighting, an Echolab DV-y switcher with chromakey capability, a character generator for adding text, CD, DVD and audio cassette players to add variety to your program and a control room that overlooks the studio.
Our studio is designed so that it can be used with one operator running the show, or you can have a crew of up to four. Our three evening studio class will teach you basic studio theory and includes hands-on practice.
This class is three evenings long, and costs $150.00.
We must have at least two students for this class to make.
